Learn the rules of padel: scoring, serving, walls in play, court dimensions, and player positions. Everything you need to start playing and watching padel.
Whether you're stepping onto a padel court for the first time or tuning into a Premier Padel tournament, understanding the rules is essential.
A padel court measures 20 meters long by 10 meters wide, enclosed by walls and glass panels. The net divides the court at 88 cm in the center.
Padel uses the same scoring system as tennis: 15, 30, 40, game. Sets are won at 6 games with at least a 2-game lead. At 6-6, a tie-break is played. Professional matches are best of three sets.
Unlike tennis, the padel serve must be underhand. The server bounces the ball and hits it below waist height. The serve must land in the diagonal service box.
This is what makes padel unique. After the ball bounces on the ground, players can hit it off the walls — both their own back wall and the side walls. This creates incredible rallies and spectacular shots.
Padel is always played in doubles. Each player specializes on one side — left (revés, more offensive) or right (drive, more consistent). In fantasy padel on OutOfTheCourt, understanding positions helps build better teams.
