Fantasy Scores, Upsets & Quarterfinal Preview
The Round of 16 is done and the Gijón P2 just lost its two biggest fantasy heroes. Chozas/Libaak and Valenzuela/Martínez – the R32's top scorers – are both out. Meanwhile, the big names stepped up, a 17-year-old delivered the highest R16 score of the entire tournament, and the quarterfinal draw is absolutely stacked. Here's the full breakdown.
The favorites are through, but several needed to fight for it. Three matches went to three sets on the men's side, while the qualifying heroes from earlier rounds were shown the door.
The R16 brought a completely different leaderboard compared to the R32. This time, the established names dominated – with one upset specialist leading the pack.
| # | Player | FP |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 🇪🇸 Edu Alonso | 39.2 |
| 2 | 🇪🇸 Momo González | 33.7 |
| 3 | 🇦🇷 Martín Di Nenno | 32.5 |
| 4 | 🇦🇷 Leo Augsburger | 32.0 |
| 5 | 🇪🇸 Juan Lebrón | 29.6 |
39.2 FP to top the men's R16 leaderboard. After upsetting Guerrero/Navarro in the R32, Alonso and Tello followed it up by shutting down the qualifying darlings Valenzuela/Martínez 2-0. Two straight upsets, two dominant wins. This pair is on a genuine run – and they face Yanguas/Stupaczuk in the QF. Don't count them out.
After a shaky three-setter in the R32, Di Nenno/González found their rhythm with a clean 2-0 over Bautista/Campagnolo. Momo González posted 33.7 FP and Di Nenno added 32.5 FP – a combined 66.2 FP. They looked like a different pair compared to yesterday. The problem? They face Tapia/Coello in the QF.
🔻 Chozas/Libaak eliminated. The R32 MVPs (89.8 combined FP) fell to Sanz/Nieto 1-2. Our "Dark Horse" pick from the preview delivered exactly what we predicted. Nieto's return is paying off – this pair has real momentum heading into the QF against Lebrón/Augsburger.
🔻 Valenzuela/Martínez knocked out. The qualifying kings were stopped cold by Alonso/Tello 0-2. Their tournament FP totals (43.0 + 40.7 from R32) remain excellent value for the roster cost, but the dream run ends here.
⚠️ Tapia/Coello pushed to three sets. Lijó and Arce gave the world #1 pair a real scare before going down 1-2. This is the second consecutive tournament where Tapia/Coello have been tested early. They'll need to be sharper against Di Nenno/González in the QF.
✅ Lebrón/Augsburger look sharp. A clean 2-0 over Arroyo/Aguirre. Augsburger posted 32.0 FP and Lebrón 29.6 FP – 61.6 combined in a single round. They look like genuine title contenders.
✅ Bergamini/Garrido survive again. Another three-setter (2-1 vs García Rodrigo/Gala). That's back-to-back three-set wins. They face Galán/Chingotto in the QF – the toughest possible draw for a pair that keeps going the distance.
If the men's R16 was dramatic, the women's draw was clinical. All eight favourites advanced, and every single match ended 2-0. No upsets, no three-setters. But the fantasy scores told a very different story.
The women's R16 leaderboard brings a headline that fantasy managers need to read twice.
| # | Player | FP |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 🇪🇸 Martina Calvo Santamaría | 42.9 |
| 2 | 🇪🇸 Marta Ortega Gallego | 39.1 |
| 3 | 🇩🇰 Claudia Jensen | 29.0 |
| 4 | 🇪🇸 Tamara Icardo | 28.3 |
| 5 | 🇪🇸 Ariana Sánchez | 20.4 |
42.9 FP – the highest single-round score of the ENTIRE R16, men and women combined. At just 17 years old, Calvo Santamaría is destroying the fantasy game. She topped R16 scoring in Riyadh (36.4 FP) and now she's done it again with an even bigger number. Paired with Marta Ortega (39.1 FP, 2nd place), this duo combined for 82.0 FP in a single round – a dominant 2-0 win over Sainz/Eugenio Barrera. She's not a breakout anymore. She's a fantasy must-have.
Women first, confirmed again: Calvo's 42.9 FP beats every single men's R16 score. Edu Alonso's men-best 39.2 FP is only good enough for... second. The pattern from Riyadh continues: invest in your women's lineup first.
The QF draw is set and it's a blockbuster. Here's what to expect from each match – and who to target in your fantasy lineup.
The #1 pair in the world against the R16's 2nd and 3rd highest scorers. Tapia/Coello were pushed to three sets by Lijó/Arce, while Di Nenno/González found their groove with 66.2 combined FP. This is the most fantasy-relevant match of the QF – whoever wins will generate massive points. Di Nenno and Momo are in form, but the class gap in a QF setting usually favors the top seed.
Alonso (39.2 FP) is the men's R16 top scorer and this pair has beaten Guerrero/Navarro AND Valenzuela/Martínez back-to-back. Can they make it three in a row? Yanguas/Stupaczuk cruised past Pol Hernández/Collado 2-0 and are the higher seed. This is the most unpredictable QF match – and in fantasy terms, a three-setter here means huge points for both sides.
Lebrón/Augsburger posted 61.6 combined FP in the R16 and look razor-sharp. Sanz/Nieto have won two consecutive three-setters and are riding momentum after knocking out Chozas/Libaak. But can they sustain that intensity against a pair with this much firepower? Augsburger (32.0 FP) and Lebrón (29.6 FP) are both in the R16 Top 5 – that's a tough ceiling to overcome for the dark horses.
Bergamini/Garrido have survived two consecutive three-setters – admirable grit, but a sign they're operating at their maximum. Galán/Chingotto, the Riyadh P1 finalists, breezed through 2-0. On paper this is the most one-sided QF. In fantasy terms, Galán/Chingotto should rack up clean, efficient points here.
The women's QF is a parade of superstar matchups. Every single bracket is appointment viewing.
The match with the highest combined fantasy ceiling in the entire QF. Calvo Santamaría (42.9 FP) and Ortega (39.1 FP) combined for 82.0 FP in the R16 – against a relatively weaker opponent. Against Triay/Brea, the quality of rallies will be even higher, meaning even more fantasy points for everyone involved. If this goes to three sets, every player on both sides could crack 40+ FP. Stack this match.
Jensen (29.0 FP) and Icardo (28.3 FP) combined for 57.3 FP in the R16. Fernández/Araújo advanced cleanly 2-0. Both pairs made the SF in Riyadh – this is a genuine coin-flip. High fantasy value from both sides.
The Riyadh P1 champions face Guinart/Virseda, who beat Godallier/Marchetti 2-0. Sánchez posted 20.4 FP in a relatively comfortable R16 win – expect that number to jump significantly against tougher opposition. Ustero/Sánchez are the clear favourites but Guinart/Virseda could push them.
Two pairs packed with Grand Slam experience. Josemaría and González (Bea González) are both former World #1 players in their new 2026 partnership. Salazar/Alonso De Villa cruised through 2-0. This is a tactical chess match that could go either way – great value if it goes to three sets.
1. Stack Triay/Brea vs Ortega/Calvo. This is the highest-ceiling match in the QF. Both pairs generated massive R16 scores. In a competitive QF, both sides will accumulate huge FP. If you can only pick from one women's match – make it this one.
2. Calvo Santamaría is non-negotiable. 42.9 FP in the R16. 36.4 FP in Riyadh R16. She's 17 and she's the highest-scoring player at this tournament regardless of gender. Absolute must-have.
3. Edu Alonso is the men's dark horse pick. 39.2 FP in R16, and his pair has upset two opponents already. Even if they lose to Yanguas/Stupaczuk, a competitive match means strong fantasy returns.
4. Tapia/Coello remain safe but watch for fatigue. They went to three sets in R16 and will face an in-form Di Nenno/González. They're still the safest pick – but don't be shocked if this match is tighter than expected.
5. Galán/Chingotto for floor, not ceiling. Their QF matchup against Bergamini/Garrido is the easiest on paper. Expect a clean 2-0 with solid but not spectacular FP. Good for reliability, not for topping the leaderboard.
